Whilst I do love the winter months, my favourite time of year has always been Spring. It’s still cold enough that you can layer up although mild enough that you’re not freezing – and the flowers are just starting to pop up! Over the years I’ve amassed quite a collection of coats and jackets, but I just can’t help it. Jackets are one of things that can completely change the look and feel of an outfit. And with so many styles it can be difficult to know where to start. So I am sharing my thoughts on how to complete your look and find the perfect jacket for Spring.
The Minimalist Look
Perfect for the office, nothing beats a simple wool pea coat. I bought my navy one in the Uniqlo sale and wear it all the time! I love layering mine up with a chunky knit but I also love this look layered with a gilet. Pea coats are great as they are timeless and can be worn year after year. Which is why I advise getting a classic colour such as grey, navy or camel. I don’t actually advise getting it in black, as it picks up a lot of lint and can look quite cheap if the material isn’t a good one.
The Ultimate Puffer Coat
It’s no secret I’m in love with Urban Outfitters. In fact, I’ve been known to step out wearing UO head to toe! For me they mix that perfect balance of vintage, sporty, luxe and feminine. I love their range of puffer coats at the moment. I’ve been living in my cream one since I bought it a few weeks ago. I’m now even eyeing up this cord version!
Whilst they are probably best for colder days, puffer coats are still great for Spring as they are warm enough to wear with just a t-shirt. They are also perfect with jeans, joggers or even culottes!
The Biker Chick Look
Finding the perfect leather jacket has always been a huge drama for me. I had so much trouble finding the right fit and all real leather jackets cost an arm and a leg. My last leather jacket was from ASOS and I practically lived in it for years. I bought it during my early twenties, and as a broke student buying a £100 jacket was quite the expense. But it’s definitely been worth it.
A real leather jacket is an investment piece as it’s a jacket that you can year to year. It’s also so versatile and can be worn with most outfits. Ideal for adding edginess to a feminine tea dress or layering on top of a white shirt and jeans.
The Oversized Denim Jacket
A denim jacket is the perfect jacket to take you into Spring. You can layer it up with a hoodie or even wear with a statement tee and skinny jeans. I inherited my Dad’s stonewash blue one that he had in the 80’s which is perfect for layering up. I also recently purchased a black denim one from ASOS that I like to wear with mom jeans. Feeling brave? Why not try wearing denim on denim?
Do you have a Spring jacket that you wear when the weather starts to warm up? Have any to add the list?
I agree that a real leather jacket is an investment piece for year after year – I still have one from years ago! I love the look of the biker chick jacket and the oversized denim jacket..they’re gorgeous.
I want a nice pea coat as I have some really warm one’s and then I have the leather/ denim jackets but very little in between x
I love all of the above looks, at the moment I sway between the puffer jacket and the minimalist jackets. I love how much they make the outfit change from casual to smart so easily. x
This is such a cute jacket, perfect for winter/spring!
Love the denim jacket! My mummy was in Urban Outfitters in Belfast the other day and she loved all the sporty luxe x
I am so ready for it to be spring! I love spring fashion. I have a pale grey faux leather jacket that’s perfect for when the weather starts to warm up and I can’t wait to start wearing it again.
I am not quite ready to give up my winter coat but will need something lighter soon
I love to wear different types of coats and colours so I have already found my perfect Spring jacket. Waiting for Winter to end.
