Living in London, it’s normal to expect the British weather to be unpredictable. In fact, it’s not uncommon to carry both sunglasses and an umbrella on the same day! This summer has been no different. With some days boasting scorching 28-degree heat, swiftly followed by icy 15-degree days. So I wanted to share my review of the Secret Herb Garden – a unique end of summer experience from The Royal Horseguards Hotel.
What is the Secret Herb Garden?
The Secret Herb Garden was launched in partnership with premium tonic brand, Fever-Tree. This special experience allows guests to enjoy a range of G&T’s and tapas in the gorgeous garden terrace of the iconic London hotel. The G&T menu was designed in collaboration with Fever-Tree and each cocktail presents a distinct refreshing taste paired with hand-picked herbs to enhance the flavours.
Hosted by the 5-star London hotel, you can be sure to enjoy your drinks in their beautiful terrace restaurant area. The seating area offers great areas for both couples or bigger parties and is hidden within the greenery backdrop of Whitehall Gardens.
What’s On the Menu?
My first choice was the rosemary and pink grapefruit ensemble. I absolutely adore rosemary with gin, and first discovered this aromatic combination last year and now can’t have a G&T without it! I love that they serve it in what can only be described as a glass chalice – it’s huge! You are also able to add rosemary from the selection of fresh herb plants on your table. I thought this was a nice touch as you can then add to your own personal taste.
Served alongside the G&T’s is a delicious platter of tapas, specially selected to complement each of the unique cocktails. The food makes for a great pairing with the range of G&T’s and is a perfect partner to enjoy with your drinks.
The tapas menu comprised of a range of meat and veggie options including;
- Manchego cheese, served with spiced apple cubes
- Roasted padron peppers
- Chorizo, aubergine and fried egg
- Grilled tiger prawns
What’s the Offer?
The Secret Herb Garden’s daily special offer is available 7 days a week between 5pm and 7pm – includes two Monkey 47 G&Ts and a tapas selection for only £20*.
(*The G&T and tapas offer is available every day between 5pm and 7pm at £20 per person.)
If you know me at all, you know I love a good cocktail or two – and the Secret Herb Garden does not disappoint. It’s a perfect way to enjoy drinks in the city and tease your senses into believing it’s still summer! The location is around a 2-minute walk from Embankment underground station. So it’s perfect for those looking for a quick drink after work or somewhere to start your night out. It’s open until the end of September so do head down if you’re in London!

I absolutely love gin & Fever Tree is always my go to tonic! I would absolutely love to visit here – I’ll have to look into it!
This place looks beautiful! I love the decor. The food looks amazing too, I love how it’s served!
The Secret Herb Garden sounds like something I would love. The tapas all looks and sounds great. Fever Tree is my favourite tonic at the moment and I also love rosemary in my gin.
It looks like an amazing place to try! I’ve never tried gin but the addition of rosemary and pink grapefruit sounds interesting.
Oh wow, I love the sounds of this place and rosemary and pink grapefruit is right up my street, delicious.
At first I thought this was a DIY project of growing herbs. The place looks great that I would love to try out. Plus it gives me an idea on growing some herbs at home.
Wow £20 is a great price for tapas and G&Ts! I’m not a fan of tapas, it’s probably the only food I don’t like, but I am a fan of a G&T!!! xx
The drinks look so good and refreshing! Who cares if its not summer! Winter, spring or whatever I could drink that all year round! And the tapas to go with…must be so good! I would problably stay there all eveningg
I have been to this hotel before and it really is lovely. The secret herb garden theme sounds really fun.
Oh wow what a fantastic way to end summer, both the drinks and food look absolutely amazing and such a pretty setting too

That is really cool that they grow the herbs that way! It is inspiring me to do the same!
I think I am going to miss out on this because I am no where near London right now. I wish I knew about this place when I was there in May. I love the ambiance. Perfect place to relax after a hard day’s work!
Love the idea of this place. And the sound of the rosemary and pink grapefruit gin!
Veggie tapas sounds amazing and it looks like a beautiful place to visit and great for insta pics too 😉
I am planning for my trip to London coming December and this post comes right in time for me. If time and itinerary permits, I’ll definitely visit the London Hotel and may have a drink or two at their iconic terrace garden. Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
This all looks amazing!! Love both the decor, the food and the drinks – hope I can visit one day!
This looks like a lovely place. Very much a place we would go to, I like the style and will surely love to stop by when next we are in London.
That looks like quite the place, and it doesn’t hurt that my favourite drink by a long-shot is a gin and tonic. I’ve got to say the photography here did a nice job of putting forth a few reasons of why I ought to add this place to my list! And now, for better or worse, I’ve got an afternoon craving for a cold G & T. Thanks! Hah!
Oh I really love the sound of the ‘secret herb garden’ and the menu sounds right up my street. Especially the Manchego cheese, served with spiced apple cubes, I like the sound of the apple to compliment the cheese! x
This looks like a fun and wonderful place! The food also sounds delicious, something I would definitely like 🙂
Oh, wow. This place is super trendy. I’d love to visit with a group of girl friends 🙂
