Guest post: A weekend in Shanghai

Weekend Shanghailights

I recently spent a weekend in Shanghai and these were the highlights. Straight from the plane, I headed to the M50 art district. It’s full of amazing art and has a wonderful atmosphere. My first stop was a fabulous coffee shop called ‘Undefined’. They have an amazing interior as well as great tasting coffee.

Afterwards, I passed a coffee shop called ‘Mellower Coffee’ which had cotton candy over an americano which melted into sugar for the coffee.

Despite the smoggy day, I made a trip to the highest observation deck in the world, which is located in the Shanghai Tower. In a few of my previous trips to Shanghai, I was fortunate enough to see the building being built, getting higher and higher until it became the world’s second tallest building.

For dinner, this was my view from the ‘Vue Bar’ in the Hyatt. It overlooked all of Pudong and the Bund, which was truly incredible.

Coffee, coffee, coffee

The next day started with coffee, as usual. I went here for the aesthetic, a Gucci cafe can’t be missed but the coffee wasn’t great, as expected. My next destination was the SOHO building which has some of Shanghai’s most photogenic spots.

Obviously, I had to stop for another coffee so I decided to check out ‘Seesaw Coffee’. They have two locations but this one had a better location. This was one of my favorite coffee shops in Shanghai, definitely worth checking out.

I eventually ended up on the Bund, looking out at Pudong. One of my favorite skylines in the world.

On the last morning, I stopped by two new coffee shops. One of which was called Doe was actually a shoe store but the area was also nice to walk around and explore.

My final stop in Shanghai was ‘Xin Coffee’, probably the most photographed coffee shop. We had to ask them to turn the lights on, but it was worth it because the space was so cool.

Whilst my trip to Shanghai was short and sweet, I loved checking out all of these places. I used to go frequently, but after checking out the typical tourist sights, up and coming Shanghai is also definitely worth seeing.
