One of the fabulous things about living In London is that there is always something new to discover. Last week I was invited to the launch of the Martini and Meringues pop-up launch for Quaglino’s in London. The event is exclusive to the month of June and features an array of bespoke cocktails and desserts.
Quaglino’s is actually a seafood restaurant. It’s located in Mayfair just behind Fortnum and Mason’s in Green Park. Their decor is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn’t believe I had never been here considering how amazing their menu is!
Quaglino’s Executive Pastry Chef, Jack Smith, has teamed up with the Meringue Girls for the spectacular Spring pop-up. As part of the exclusive event, they prepared a gorgeous selection of martinis. They also match these with meringues and desserts to complement each unique cocktail.
There was also a fabulous edible installation on display. This featured a selection of mini meringues, flowers and a rainbow of bright colours.
My ultimate choice from the Martini and Meringues menu would have to be the ‘Rose Kiss’ martini. This was served with a pistachio and rose meringue kiss. The cocktail was made up of Hennessey rose water, lychee juice, orgeat syrup and lemon juice. The complementing dessert for this was a beautiful strawberry and rose pavlova.
Whilst the ‘Rose Kiss’ was my favourite cocktail, my favourite dessert was actually the ‘Deconstructed Lemon Meringue Pie’. I’m literally drooling thinking about this again! In fact all the desserts were beautiful, in taste, and to look at.
Well if you know me at all, you’ll know I love cocktails. And, I always have room for dessert! So this was a perfect night out for me. I would advise having dinner beforehand though. In hindsight, all those cocktails consumed with that much sugary goodness on an empty stomach might not have been the best idea.
Still, it was a wonderful evening and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys cocktails and desserts! The exclusive pop-up is only around until the end of June. So if you fancy something a little bit different, do check it out.
Have you ever dined or enjoyed evening drinks at Quaglino’s before? Have you been to visit the Martini and Meringue’s Spring pop-up yet?
Disclaimer: I was invited down to the launch of this event, but all opinions are my own.
