I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly posed with the dilemma of what to wear to work. I hadn’t been shopping in a while and I’ve been trying to hold out until my vacation in August before I purchased any new clothes – but the sales racks were calling…
Despite the warmer weather I can’t help but be drawn to the more formal pieces like blazers and trousers, great for work wear, not so great for a holiday. So until then I thought to share my latest work wear wishlist.
My usual high street haunts would be Zara, Topshop, COS and Urban Outfitters but online shopping usually sees me on ASOS or my latest find; Love the Sales. I love the boxy androgynous style – hence my love of all things COS. But Zara along with some of the latest finds in Topshop also have pieces that fit within this trend.
So let’s start with the essentials – everyone needs that basic blazer that can pull together any outfit. Team it up with matching trousers or even jeans. I have a range of blazers I can interchange depending on how I feel. It can dress up your favourite skinny jeans or match with your culottes which you could even wear to that all important meeting.
To suit or not to suit?
Wearing office wear doesn’t necessarily mean having to wear a suit, and it also doesn’t mean you have to compromise style. One of the latest trends to make a comeback is the culotte. Yes, they can be a bit hard to wear – but also ultra comfy! But if culottes aren’t your thing, tapered cigarette trousers are also bang on trend. These also pair up nicely with trainers and a denim jacket, perfect for dress-down Fridays.
Walk this way
An outfit is not an outfit until you match it with the right footwear! I am most definitely a lover of a chunky boot and you can usually find me in the boots section in Office or Urban Outfitters. However, this warmer weather is suited to other styles… I’m not great in heels and I usually don’t last longer than an hour in them when I wear them out, so I always look out for chunky heels or flats.
Shoes that I am loving at the moment are mules! Versatile and easy to wear, fine for the office and can take your outfit into an evening out with the girls! I’m also not opposed to wearing trainers in the office, even with smart trousers and a blazer it can dress down that stuffy suit and again perfect for a dress-down day at the office – Nike Air Max’s are my usual go to.
And that makes my round-up of what to wear in the office, now back to shopping I go! What’s your office style like? Know of any sales on at the moment? Comment below or tweet me at @arcasela. And don’t forget to check out my insta for more fashion inspo via @ldn.rose
