Firstly happy new year everyone! It’s my first blog post of the year 2016, the first of many… Like many at the start of the year we all set ourselves goals and ambitions to try and aim towards. And if you thought this post was going to be any different than I guess I’m here to disappoint you. A little late with this post, but I guess better late than never right? So here are my 2016 resolutions…
That brings me onto my first new year’s blog resolution:
1. Post more regularly and plan, plan, plan!
I’ve just started blogging again and I’m already falling behind my initial goal of posting at least once a week. So after reading from other bloggers tips and ideas, I’ve decided to keep a blogger planner. Those that know me, know I love a good list! So I’ve been inspired to start using my trusty wunderlist app to help me plan my blog posts and tasks. It’s really handy for creating lists for possible blog ideas/topics/themes. I’ve also got lists set up for individual tasks and to-dos like ‘draft this blog post’ or ‘first edit/read through’. I also have lists for basic tasks I sometimes forget, like; research, source photos, take photos, etc. There are a few similar tools but wunderlist has to be my favourite for personal use.
2. Be more active in the blogging community
One thing I know from experience both personally and through working in blogger outreach, is that the community is very inclusive. Its built on a foundation of social and friendly characters who like to share, learn and inspire. That being said, I have been a bit afraid to get more involved and have tried to keep my blog to myself. But I realise now that it will never work that way. So first thing’s first, I plan to take part in more blogger chats and groups.
3. Write with a purpose
I guess it comes down to why I’m actually putting myself through this again… Why am I choosing to write another blog, share my personal thoughts and ideas – allowing myself open to judgement? I guess it’s the reason why most people start a blog, they crave that creative outlet that sharing through a blog provides. Ultimately though, I want to ensure that I’m trying to create content that has meaning. Whether its providing tips or learnings for someone who’s unsure, perhaps providing inspiration of some sort or just providing entertaining writing. I’m hoping I can fulfill at least one of those!
For now I’ll stick to those three, to make it a bit more acheiveable. Baby steps right? Ask me in a few months and I’ll let you know how I’m getting on.
